Mclean, Virginia based consumer electronics and entertainment content provider is seeking talented and experienced (3 - 5 years) software engineers to join our team. These opportunities will include working with software engineering teams to design and develop embedded real-time software for consumer electronic devices.
Requirements:
- Expertise in development of interface screens using DHTML and Javascript
- Expertise in AJAX, LAMP and/or remote scripting
- Language proficiency must be sufficient to perform hand coding of page source
- Past experience writing for all majors browsers
- Past experience with Apache server and Linux
- Ability to create graphics using Photoshop, Corel, GIMP or equivalent
- Ability to rapidly prototype pages and respond to evolving layouts
- Knowledge of configuration management practices and tools
- Knowledge of RSS and aggregation service applications
- Familiarity with media presentation and streaming in a web-based context
- Past experience with C/C++, Javascript and/or SQL development
- Ability to adapt to change quickly and meet tight deadlines is a must
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Must be a team player and possess succinct communications skills
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (EE, CE, CS) is required
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop internal and external web interfaces for a large subscriber account system
- Develop web interface for network operations and internal reporting systems
- Develop web interface for set-top box embedded web server
- Rapidly develop embedded pages for prototype demonstration of new features
- Work with backend developers to optimize dynamic page generation
- Design and develop utilities to process embedded web page source for storage and optimization
- Maximize perceived responsiveness of embedded server pages
- Develop core components and a flexible page framework that will allow rapid modification of the aesthetic components prior to deployment
- Ensure usability and consistency throughout the online and embedded interface screens
- Document the interface design and assist with development of user documentation
