Software Engineering Opportunities
Job Title:
Engineer, Multimedia Set-top Box Software
Location:
Mclean, VA
Mclean, Virginia based consumer electronics and entertainment content provider is seeking talented and experienced (3 - 5 years) software engineers to join our team. These opportunities will include working with software engineering teams to develop software for an embedded high definition and video rendering platform in consumer electronic devices.
Requirements:
- Expertise in C or C++ is required
- Past experience with audio and video multiplexing, including synchronization of audio and video streams, especially MPEG2 or 4
- Knowledge of MPEG, JPEG, PNG and related standards
- Past experience with high definition video or digital television
- Must have knowledge of developing real-time threaded applications
- Past experience developing device drivers is desired
- Past experience in consumer products or STB is highly desired
- Ability to conduct and support NOC staff training on deployed system
- Past experience with TCP/IP networks and media streaming protocols is desirable
- Ability to adapt to change quickly and meet tight deadlines is a must
- Must be a team player and possess succinct communications skills
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (EE, CE, CS) is required
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Design and implement video system and application level software to run inside a custom multi-core ASIC
- Implement support for DVD navigation features
- Implement code for generation of on-screen graphics and effects
- Develop graphical screens for user navigation of content and account management features
- Develop utilities for prepackaging of content titles
- Develop other software components as required to support the main project
- Collaborate with the network protocol engineer to implement media streaming to external media players
